Starting From Humble Beginnings

I started Custom Print Gallery in 2007. I have four children and for many years my husband and I would trade schedules and work opposite hours so that one of us could be with our children and they would only have to be with a sitter as little as possible. After our third child was born, the cost of childcare was more than I was making so we made the decision for me to stay home. It has been one of the hardest things I have ever done! Staying home has been a struggle financially, socially, and emotionally, but I would never go back and trade it for anything! I feel that we have been Blessed all along that it has always worked out.

I have to say that before I started my company, I had no idea all of the ideas and uses that people had for labels in their lives. I have always loved art and design for as long as I can remember. Out of that love and the desire to be able to help my family financially, but still be at home, came Custom Print Gallery. Starting with just two types of labels and a couple of designs, I jumped in. It was a very slow start, but unbelievably exciting. To get even one sale here and there, was a feeling like no other.

It has been a crazy long road of tears and hair pulling frustrations, but I like to think that I used those experiences to learn and to improve my business. To take suggestions and ideas and expand where I can. I have learned so much over the years and am thrilled to be a part of the Etsy community!
